Blonde VS Brunette

While sitting in the waiting room at the doctors office the other day, I was flipping through an issue of Marie Clair magazine and spotted an article written by a woman who decided to abandon her blonde hair in favor of a darker shade.

The article really hit home with me. In the article, the writer explains how from the age of 21 to her current age of 36, she's spent about $15,000 on hair color. Considering that she's been coloring her hair for 15 years, and I've been coloring for almost twice as long, I cringe when I think of how much I've spent to color my hair. She also goes on to say how the perception that most women have is that men prefer blondes. Books such as Jena Pincott's Do Gentlemen Really Prefer Blondes? Bodies, Behavior and Brains - The Science Behind Sex, Love and Attraction, call blonde hair the equivalent of brilliant shiny packaging.

Also, well known blondes such as Debbie Harry, aka "Blondie" have been quoted saying being blond is like walking around with your own spotlight.

But do gentlemen really prefer blondes? The allure of blond hair seems to be fading, and more celebrities have been returning to their roots.

Around 2008, I started toying with the idea of dying my hair from blond to brunette, but couldn't decide if I liked it.

I opted to keep dying my hair, which lead to a hair nightmare that I had to endure.  It's been a little over a year since I had blonde hair, and I'm really enjoying the benefits of having darker hair. My hair looks shinier and smoother and I feel I don't look as washed out. An added benefit is that Enzo can do my hair at home, for far less than what I would have paid in the salon. So for now, I'm sticking with brunette.

What do you think? Was I better as a blonde or brunette? Do Gentlemen prefer blondes? Who has more fun, blondes or
brunettes? Please comment! - Anna
